Doug Chase will highlight several exciting projects underway across the County while providing an overview of the more popular facilities and services provided by Spokane County’s Parks, Recreation and Golf Department.

About The Speaker

Doug is a lifelong resident of Washington State. He grew up in Central Washington hiking in the Wenatchee valley foothills and could be found on any given winter weekend skiing the slopes of Mission Ridge.

With roots from both sides of his family extending to Spokane County, Doug was naturally drawn to this area. He attended Eastern Washington University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning and later, a Master’s degree in Public Administration.

Doug started his career in land use as a Planner for Douglas County. After a few short years, he made his way back to the east side of the State where he worked seven years as the Planning Director for the City of Medical Lake before securing his current role with Spokane County.

This fall, Doug will celebrate his 20th year of service as Director of the Parks Recreation and Golf Department for Spokane County.

As the Parks Director, Mr. Chase is responsible for the County’s 15,000-acre park system and facilities which provide a host of services and opportunities to recreate for individuals of all ages and abilities living in and visiting our community.

This system includes numerous community and regional parks, miles and miles of paved and natural surfaced trails, thousands of acres of open space and conservation lands, two aquatic facilities, a popular campground, a 90-acre regional outdoor sports complex and three of the best maintained public 18-hole championship golf courses in the state,…not to mention Spokane County’s Avista Stadium – home of the Spokane Indians baseball team.
